A local group, known as the Grads present once more this eternal work. In this case we are in the Iraq war as far as costume and setting is concerned, although the words are still in Thebes. Antigone wants to give her dead brother a dignified burial, but the king forbids it. Natural law, the law of humaneness in contrast to the law of the man who protects himself to ensure his continuation (I am the king!). A simple staging and a little broken (she probably means the story is told in little segments) but the questions are so profound and important and the text is so pretty and modern that we can't stop crying once more when Creon has to weep over his son. There are many Antigones over there (does she mean Iraq? or is it "out there" meaning the wide wide world?)who want to saveguard common sense, good sense, humaneness. Let's hope they don't tire.
